The symbol of Prato's contemporaneity is fifty years old! In 2024, Henry Moore's square shape with cut celebrates this important milestone by blowing out all the candles iwith the best appearence. In fact, thanks to an anonymous donation, it was possible to carry out a restoration operation, necessary since the monumental sculpture is located at the center of an important communication artery, which ended on 24th November 2023.

The monumental work by the British artist, made up of blocks of very white Carrara marble, is located in San Marco square, a strategic point of the city's roads and connection between the city walls and the central station.

Come and admire its contemporary forms, harmonized in a monumental complex, the only example in Italy belonging to the artist, which has catalyzed the gaze of the world since its was shown in the 1972 exhibition at Forte Belvedere in Florence (later purchased by the Municipality of Prato and by some industrialists from Prato).

This seemingly simple work also contains the idea of contemporaneity and novelty that pervades the soul of Prato yesterday and today. Symbol of the city, it is closely linked to the city's industry which shows all its desire and its gaze projected towards the future.
