A special recognition for the Medici Route

 

We are delitighed to announce that the Medici Route has been officially recognized as a path of regional interest and included in the Atlas of Tuscan Paths, a prestigious recognition for an itinerary of great importance.

The Medici Route connects the Via Francigena with that of Wool and Silk, offering a 78.3 km route through natural landscapes and cultural treasures to be discovered in 4 days or more. Despite a medium difficulty level, this itinerary offers the opportunity to explore an unexpected Tuscany, characterized by a slow pace, a deep connection with nature, ancient traditions and authentic flavours.

The Medici Route is a fascinating immersion in the summer holiday places of the Medici family, along specially marked local roads or CAI paths, which invite you to discover the pleasure of traveling slowly. Along the route you come across four Medici villas (Poggio a Caiano, Artimino, Montelupo and Quarrata), UNESCO heritage site since 2013, as well as ancient villages, natural beauty and breathtaking views.

The route starts from the Cascine di Tavola Park (Medici farmhouses in Prato) and ends in Fucecchio, crossing nine municipalities (Prato, Poggio a Caiano, Carmignano, Montelupo Fiorentino, Capraia e Limite, Quarrata, Vinci, Cerreto Guidi and Fucecchio) and three tourist areas (Prato, Pistoia and Florence).
