The elevated and strategic position of Pietramarina, on the western border of Artimino territory, offered control over the vast surrounding area and was a point of reference for those crossing the plains or coming from the Apennine passes. It is likely that Pietramarina was part of a long-range communications system, which crossed the Apennines. From here, you can enjoy a 360 degree panoramic view of the surrounding area, so much so that the name "Pietramarina" comes from the fact that, on the clearest days, you can even see the sea!

Probably due to its strategic position, the site, which served as a fortified area and place of religious ceremonies, was occupied by the Etruscans for a long period, from the 7th to the 1st century BC. The top of the hill is surrounded by a wall of approximately 360 metres, still visible in some sections.

On the north-west edge of the area is the symbol of Pietramarina: the mysterious Devil's Boulder, a monolithic rock outcrop with steps and engravings, perhaps an ancient place of worship.
