Leonetto Tintori Museum-House The artistic inheritance and cultural heritage of a multifaceted master of the art immersed in an enchanting context

The Leonetto Tintori Museum-House is a refuge full of history, where the artist-restorer and his wife Elena have shaped a unique world. It is here that the Vainella Fresco Laboratory was born in 1983, today the beating heart of the Elena and Leonetto Tintori Fresco Laboratory Association, dedicated to perpetuating their vision and commitment to artistic research and study.

Leonetto Tintori, a multifaceted figure, painter, sculptor and mosaicist, has left his mark by restoring works of international importance, from the majesty of Giotto to Piero della Francesca and Masaccio, both in Italy and beyond national borders. After ritiring from his profession, he generated the idea of a fresco school-workshop, inspired by the Middle Ages workshop.

The residence, an elegant villa from the early 1900s, is surrounded by a 2000 square meter park, adorned with over three hundred works: sculptures and bas-reliefs in ceramic, concrete, terracotta and bronze, creations of the artist and other Tuscan talents between 1950 and 1990. In the centre, an extraordinary work: Noah's Ark, guardian of the ashes of Leonetto Tintori and his wife.

Inside, a world of ancient and modern art, archaeological finds and works by Leonetto's wife enrich the spaces. In the modern classrooms at the back, knowledge takes shape: workshops dedicated to wall painting (fresco, graffiti, polished stucco, encaustic and scagliola) and artistic ceramics, tailor-made for anyone curious about art.

The Museum-House, now the heritage of the Municipality of Prato thanks to a donation in 1988, is part of the National Association of Memory Houses. With guided tours by appointment, it opens the doors to an exciting journey, also offering educational workshops to immerse yourself in the above mentioned artistic techniques.
